JESUS CHRIST ….. THE ORIGIN OF ALL THINGS

1. JESUS CHRIST ….. THE ORIGIN OF ALL THINGS

Websites: The grouping of the websites below ........ have been grouped, based a brief overview of the purpose of the Christian Church. Jesus calls us into a new community with Himself initially as a vertical spirituality ..... He gives us a new identity as children in the Kingdom of Heaven. Through this new identity, we can then be in relationship with others of like mind in a horizontal spirituality. This is the final meaning of the cross with its two members, a strong vertical member with God and us and a horizontal member, us with everyone else linked together. Jesus set out a basic ground of verbal teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5), for His new Kingdom Order where he taught His disciples principles like:
  • Blessed are the poor in spirit
  • Blessed are those who morn
  • Blessed are the meek
  • Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
  • Blessed are the merciful
  • Blessed are the pure in heart
  • Blessed are the peacemakers

…… not strong qualities to take over the world ...... but when applied by Jesus followers, actually worked and turned the world upside down when outworked with the preaching of the Gospel. Before He left us, He prayed for you and I in: John 17:20 'Neither, pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe, on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Our Spiritual Identity is the big picture of life …. There is an unseen dimension of life that has a direct effect on our lives here and now, if we let it. It is a relationship with the Universe and the Personal Higher Power (God). We have an outer person (physical body ), middle person of mind, will and emotions and inner person (our spirit). If our confidence and sense of identity is only in the first two areas, these can be taken from us in a moment but an ongoing personal relationship with a the Personal Higher Power (God) is a permanent restoring aspect of life. Positive Spirituality (vs. Religion) builds a sustainable life.

Scholars: Oldest evidence of Jesus?

http://archives.cnn.com/2002/TECH/science/10/21/jesu,science: s.box/index.html

By Jeordan Legon CNN Tuesday, October 22, 2002 Posted: 9:46 AM EDT (1346 GMT)
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A limestone burial box, almost 2,000 years old, may provide the oldest archaeological record of Jesus of Nazareth, experts announced Monday.

The ossuary, as the bone boxes are known, dates to A.D. 63 and has an inscription in Aramaic which translates to: "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus," said Andre Lemaire, an expert in ancient writing who identified the box in Jerusalem last spring.

Aramaic, an ancient Semitic language, was the lingua franca of the Middle East for many centuries. At the time of Jesus' life, Aramaic was the common language of the Jews. Writing about his findings in the new issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, Lemaire, who teaches at the Sorbonne in Paris , called it "very probable" that the box belonged to Jesus' brother James, who by Christian tradition was the leader of the early church in Jerusalem. Some scholars expressed doubt that the box, which is 20 inches long by 11 inches wide, could be definitively linked to Jesus, a Jewish carpenter by trade revered by Christians as the son of God. "We may never be absolutely certain. In the work I do we're rarely absolutely certain about anything," said Kyle McCarter, a Johns Hopkins University archaeologist, who said that the finding was probable, but that he had "a bit of doubt."

While most scholars agree that Jesus existed, no physical evidence from the first century has ever been conclusively tied with his life. Two scientists from the Israeli government's geological survey tested the box last month, inspecting the surface patina and inscription under a microscope. They concurred that the object is more than 19 centuries old, the archaeology magazine reported.

"It's hard to avoid the conclusion that these three names refer to the personages so identified in the New Testament," said Hershel Shanks, editor of Biblical Archaeology Review.

There's no word in biblical Hebrew for "doubt." Are you surprised at this? Biblical Hebrew has no word for "doubt." Isn't it odd, then, that for the past several decades so much preaching has tried to assuage people's doubts. Modern preaching often aims at identifying people's doubts, voicing their doubts, classifying their doubts, illumining their doubts. On the one hand I understand why preachers think they have to address people's doubts. On the other hand I have heard many sermons on doubt that ended up legitimating doubt, ended up confirming doubt. And I have heard more than one sermon where the preacher himself voiced his own doubts and many listeners went home relieved, since they now felt their own unbelief was all right.

We should rather understand why biblical Hebrew has no word for "doubt": for our Hebrew foreparents God was the immediate, intense, intimate atmosphere in which their life unfolded, and to doubt him would have been as nonsensical as doubting the air they breathed and the fact of breathing itself and the necessity of breathing.

CHRIST THE KING ..... Changing the world, one site at a time...

http://christtheking.20m.co

The Kingdom of God is built on the Lordship of Jesus and the authority of His Friends. Jesus demonstrated the Kingdom of God. “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons” said Jesus and say ‘The Kingdom of God is here!’ The Kingdom of God is the presence of the Son of God in you. Our role on earth is to multiply what Jesus began in the power of the Spirit. This is how His Kingdom comes and His will is done on earth as it is in heaven. It is His will that is to be done on earth. Not our will. ____________________________________
